Home Documentary
Documentary family sessions aim to capture your life and moments as they naturally unfold. There’s minimal interaction or direction from the photographer. The scenes are not styled or made to look perfect. Your home space is a big part of your story capturing this slice of life and moment in time.
Location:
This type of session is mostly done at your family home, this is because it’s your familiar space, your safe haven, where you live and love. When everyone is comfortable in their home space, there is opportunity for moments to unfold naturally.
Lighting:
The photographer does not bring or add any additional lighting. Photographers will only use the current available light to give the pictures a true and real reflection of what it is like. Camera flashes and additional lighting makes most people more uncomfortable. The goal of home documentary photography is to tell a story as true and natural as possible.
Length of session:
With home documentary photo sessions it’s so important for the family to feel comfortable. This is why these sessions tend to take longer to help everyone relax and forget about me.So compared to lifestyle outdoor shoots, these sessions will take about 2 hours instead of 1 hour outdoors.
The benefits of home documentary family photography:
- The focus of this shoot is not on making everyone look their best. Real is better than perfect. A glimpse into your life as it is, the chaos and the beauty of everyday life.
- No stressing about holding a pose or looking picture perfect, definitely takes the pressure off getting your kid to laugh on cue.
- These sessions capture beautiful, unpredictable moments that you might even overlook on a daily basis.
